The best-known digital marketplace companies, from Envato to Gumroad, all run the same model: many creators, one storefront, automatic delivery. You do not need their scale to start, and you do not need to leave Shopify to do it.
Geloof Digitaal is a Netherlands-based store selling encrypted e-books, e-readers, and accessories. It began as a single-vendor Shopify store where the founder managed every publisher by hand. As the catalog grew, that stopped scaling. With Garnet it became a full multi-vendor digital marketplace on Shopify:
- 10+ publishers onboarded with their own dashboards
- 700+ e-books listed, around 70 per vendor
- Quarterly reporting cut from ~32 hours to a quick export, close to a full week saved each quarter
"What used to take me about 32 hours every quarter is now reduced to a quick export and cleanup. Our publishers really appreciate having access to their own dashboard and sales insights." Lucel Mulder, Founder of Geloof Digitaal
The market is going the same direction. The global e-book market alone was worth $50.6 billion in 2025, and the wider digital goods market is projected to grow from $124 billion in 2025 to $511 billion by 2031 (Mordor Intelligence). Want more? See more multi-vendor marketplace examples.
