Webkul Multivendor Marketplace vs Garnet

Two ways to turn a Shopify store into a marketplace. One is a multi-platform veteran. One is built only for Shopify. Here is the honest comparison, including where Webkul wins.

Webkul vs Garnet in one paragraph

Both Webkul and Garnet turn a Shopify store into a multi-vendor marketplace, so the real question is breadth versus depth. The Webkul multi vendor marketplace is a platform-agnostic veteran that also runs on Magento, WooCommerce, OpenCart, and BigCommerce, with a big catalog of paid add-ons. Garnet is Shopify-only, and spends that focus on real-time vendor sync and automated payouts.

That framing is the whole point of this page. If you want one vendor across several ecommerce platforms, or you might replatform later, Webkul's reach is a genuine edge and the section below on when Webkul wins says so plainly. If Shopify is your long-term home, a Shopify-native app usually fits better.

Garnet Marketplace, a Shopify multi-vendor marketplace app, adds seller accounts, catalog syncing, per-vendor commissions, and split payouts on top of the marketplace on Shopify you already run. That is how TheBradery and MadeIt operate their marketplaces today.

Webkul vs Garnet: the quick comparison

Both are marketplace apps for Shopify. Pricing figures are from each vendor's own listings, checked July 2026.

How much does Webkul Multivendor Marketplace cost vs Garnet?

On the sticker, Webkul is cheaper to start. Its Shopify app opens at 15 dollars a month for up to three sellers, steps up to 40 dollars for ten, and 60 dollars for unlimited, with a 15-day free trial, per Webkul's own pricing page. That is a low bar to test a marketplace idea.

The number to watch is the add-ons. Webkul splits a lot of functionality into separate paid apps: Seller Membership is another 25 dollars a month, Slot Pricing another 10, and the list goes on. A marketplace that needs three or four of those quickly leaves the headline price behind. It is a real cost, just not the one on the first screen.

Garnet does not publish a fixed tier. Pricing is custom, scaled to your catalog and model, with a free trial on the Shopify App Store and your Shopify plan underneath. For most operators the honest read is this: Webkul can be cheaper for a small, simple marketplace, while Garnet's all-in quote gets more predictable as you add vendors and features. Want the wider field first? Our roundup of the best marketplace platforms lays out the pricing spread.

Which platforms does each support?

This is where Webkul is genuinely stronger, and it would be dishonest to gloss over it. Webkul has sold marketplace software since 2010, and the same product family covers Magento, WooCommerce, OpenCart, and BigCommerce as well as Shopify. The BigCommerce listing is literally "Multi Vendor Marketplace by Webkul." One relationship, many platforms.

That matters in two cases. If you are not sure Shopify is your long-term home, Webkul lets you carry the same vendor logic to another platform later. And if you already run Magento or WooCommerce, Webkul is often the most-deployed option there, which is why it shows up across our Magento marketplace and WooCommerce vs Shopify multi-vendor guides.

Garnet makes the opposite bet. It runs on Shopify and nowhere else, which rules it out for a Magento shop but lets it lean fully into Shopify's checkout, themes, and payment rails rather than abstracting across five platforms at once.

How do vendors add and sync products?

Here the balance tips back toward Garnet. Both apps let sellers upload by CSV or API. Garnet goes further: a vendor can connect an existing Shopify, WooCommerce, or PrestaShop store, a Google Sheet, or the API, and their stock stays in sync automatically. No re-keying a catalog by hand.

It is also fast. Garnet imports vendor catalogs at roughly 50 to 180 products a minute and reflects stock and price changes in about 0.2 to 0.3 seconds, numbers we see across live stores. For a marketplace whose vendors already sell somewhere else, that removes most of the onboarding friction.

Webkul supports imports and a dual-sync mode too, but several of the deeper connectors sit behind its add-on model. If seller onboarding is the thing that will make or break your launch, compare the exact sync sources each app gives you before you pick.

So which should you pick?

Match the tool to the situation rather than the marketing.

Pick Webkul if you run Magento, WooCommerce, OpenCart, or BigCommerce, if you might switch platforms later, or if you want the lowest possible starting price for a small marketplace and do not mind assembling features from add-ons.

Pick Garnet if Shopify is your store for the long run, if your vendors already sell elsewhere and need real-time sync, or if you want automated split payouts across Stripe, PayPal, Mollie, and Airwallex without stacking extra apps. Switching from Webkul is straightforward because you keep the same Shopify store: install Garnet, re-onboard vendors, and follow the switch to Garnet path. Furniture marketplace Bazaa grew from 1 million to 5 million dollars in annualized sales within a year of running this model.

When Webkul Multivendor Marketplace is the better choice

A comparison that only flatters our own product is a sales pitch, not a comparison. Webkul is the right call in a few clear cases.

Choose the multi vendor marketplace by Webkul if you are on Magento, WooCommerce, OpenCart, or BigCommerce today, since Garnet simply does not run there. Choose it if platform portability matters and you want the option to carry the same vendor system across stores. Choose it if you are testing a bare-bones marketplace on the tightest budget and the 15-dollar entry tier covers what you need. And choose it if you value a decade-plus track record from a single vendor; Webkul has built ecommerce software since 2010 and carries 172 client reviews on Clutch.

Garnet is the better fit at the other end: Shopify-committed brands and retailers who want depth on sync and payouts, an included feature set rather than an add-on cart, and a marketplace that lives entirely inside Shopify. For every other platform matchup, our multi-vendor platform comparison hub covers the field.

CedCommerce vs Webkul: how do they compare?

If you are weighing Webkul, you have probably run into CedCommerce too. Both are established marketplace-app vendors, and both will get you a working multivendor storefront on Shopify. The difference is emphasis.

Webkul is the deep, add-on-heavy marketplace specialist. CedCommerce is better known as a multichannel expansion partner: its most popular apps connect a Shopify store to Amazon, Etsy, and Walmart, and its Multivendor Marketplace Solution sits alongside that with quote-based pricing. So CedCommerce vs Webkul usually comes down to whether you care more about channel integrations or the widest marketplace feature set.

Garnet is the third option in that conversation: Shopify-native, focused only on running your own marketplace rather than selling on someone else's. If your plan is to be the marketplace, not list on Amazon, that focus is the point.

Webkul vs Garnet questions

What operators ask before choosing a Shopify marketplace app.

Ask a question
  • Is Webkul Multivendor Marketplace good?

Yes. Webkul has built marketplace software since 2010, and its Multivendor Marketplace runs on Shopify, Magento, WooCommerce, OpenCart, and BigCommerce, with a large library of paid add-ons. If you want one vendor that covers several ecommerce platforms, Webkul is a safe, mature choice. On Shopify specifically, Garnet trades that breadth for depth on vendor sync and automated payouts.

  • Webkul vs Garnet: which is better for a Shopify marketplace?

For a Shopify store it comes down to breadth versus depth. Webkul is platform-agnostic and cheaper on the entry sticker, from 15 dollars a month for three sellers. Garnet is Shopify-only, syncs vendor catalogs from Shopify, WooCommerce, PrestaShop, CSV, API, or Google Sheets in real time, and pays vendors automatically through Stripe, PayPal, Mollie, or Airwallex. If Shopify is your home for good, Garnet's focus tends to win.

  • How much does Webkul Multivendor Marketplace cost?

Webkul's Shopify app lists three tiers: 15 dollars a month for up to 3 sellers, 40 dollars for up to 10, and 60 dollars for unlimited, with a 15-day free trial. Several capabilities are separate paid add-ons, such as Seller Membership at 25 dollars a month and Slot Pricing at 10, so the real bill depends on which extras you switch on.

  • What is the difference between CedCommerce and Webkul?

Both are established marketplace-app vendors. Webkul leans toward a deep, add-on-heavy multivendor product across many platforms. CedCommerce is better known as a multichannel expansion partner (Amazon, Etsy, Walmart channels) and also ships a Multivendor Marketplace Solution for Shopify with quote-based pricing. CedCommerce vs Webkul usually turns on whether you want channel integrations or the widest marketplace feature set.

  • Can I switch from Webkul to Garnet?

Yes. Because both run on Shopify, you keep your store, theme, and checkout. You install Garnet, re-onboard vendors, and have them connect an existing Shopify, WooCommerce, or PrestaShop store, a CSV, the API, or Google Sheets so stock stays in sync. Automated payouts through Stripe, PayPal, Mollie, or Airwallex replace your old setup. See the switch to Garnet path.

  • Does Garnet work outside Shopify like Webkul?

No, and that is the honest trade. Webkul sells the same marketplace concept for Magento, WooCommerce, OpenCart, and BigCommerce, so it fits teams not committed to Shopify. Garnet is built only for Shopify and goes deeper there. If you might replatform later, Webkul's reach is a real advantage. If Shopify is your long-term home, a Shopify-native app is the better fit.
