30 Dec - Vendor Dashboard

You've been waiting for it, Garnet's vendor dashboard is now generally available. The dashboard shows the vendor with pending actions, sales performances, and a product summary.

The feature is enabled by default for new marketplaces. Existing marketplaces will need to turn it on manually.

If the marketplace is using Garnet Marketplace before this date, it will need to be enabled via Admin Panel > Features > Vendor dashboard.

27 Dec - Finance Total sales instead of Paid

The information Total sales has been added to the finance dashboard and we have removed the Paid amount for simplicity.

26 Dec - 30-day logs

Product logs are now kept for 30 days. Contact us to increase this number.

23 Dec - Documentation rewrite

Since the last updates, we simplified, removed, and created documentation pages.

Here are some pages that had substantial updates:

21 Dec - Vendor application moved to their own tab

Some marketplaces have dozens of applications per day and it becomes cumbersome to keep track of all their progress.

  1. We have removed the pending accounts from the Switch vendor tab to their own Applications tab.
  2. The vendor will create their account once they are invited by the marketplace, not before.
  3. Applications are now unrelated to Vendors, hence the marketplace can use their own communication platform (email, WhatsApp, phone call...) to approve the vendor and invite them.

20 Dec - Account creation revamp

We heard your feedback and implemented a major upgrade on vendor account creation. You will find here the summary of the update and we'll update all our documentation in the coming week.

  1. Account creation, password update, and logging in are 6x faster. Vendors will feel the difference.
  2. Account-related emails are now customizable. For instance, the marketplace can update the design of the verification code email.
  3. Password recovery feature is more stable. The marketplace can use their own email provider if necessary to use the marketplace's email reputation.
  4. No more issues. Marketplaces can invite vendors in one click. The vendor clicks the link in the email to create their account.

19 Dec - Shopify forward tracking

13 Dec - Specifications dropdown

As your marketplace gets more and more product specifications, they are now collapsed by default to save you some space.

13 Dec - Archived products are considered out-of-stock

The product search now shows products as being out of stock when they are archived on Shopify. Sometimes the marketplace needs to archive or draft products and vendors do not need to know the difference between the two.

13 Dec - WooCommerce Order integration similar SKUs

Garnet's WooCommerce order integration now supports WooCommerce stores with several products having the same SKU.

11 Dec - SSO login more stable on Firefox and Safari

Garnet's SSO feature is now more stable in browsers that prevent third-party cookies, such as Safari and some versions of Firefox.

10 Dec - Messages login without redirect

As the messaging feature progresses, The Garnet Team released a new update that enables customers to login directly from the product page instead of navigating to the default login page.

Demo messages access without redirect

As usual, the design is customizable.

10 Dec - Membership design updates

Garnet's membership modal has been reviewed:

  1. The prices are sorted from low to high,
  2. Prices' description is pulled from its Stripe price description,
  3. Free plan has been removed

10 Dec - Products are now ordered by creation date

After consulting with marketplaces, we decided to sort the product list by Creation date (newest first) by default.

5 Dec - Stripe Connect, map vendors by the email

Marketplaces can now invite vendors directly in Stripe Connect without requesting the vendors to log in to Garnet Marketplace. The invite can be sent from Stripe and Garnet will reconcile the information based on the vendor's email.

5 Dec - More wording available

Make your marketplace more white-labeled and customize additional wordings. You now have 5 more wordings you can set in the Admin Panel.

4 Dec - Shipping interface upgrade

We are grateful for marketplace feedback. The Garnet Team improved the shipping interface as follows:

  1. Shipping lines are editable,
  2. Shipping lines show the rate description,
  3. Removing zones does not require a page reload.

4 Dec - Vendor page upgrade

The Garnet Team delivered great upgrades to the vendor pages:

  1. Before, Garnet imposed the marketplace to have fields Image and Description in the vendor page, this restriction is now removed. Marketplaces can now rename, reorder and remove these fields.
  2. The registration fields table is now more compact, it looks better when there are more than 5 fields.
  3. A new setting called Show in vendor page is used to hide/show the field on the vendor page.
  4. A glitch was fixed in the Vendor page when removing a vendor image.

4 Dec - Admin fast login

Marketplace administrators can directly log into Garnet using the Shopify app link.

3 Dec - Garnet Seller for WooCommerce

Garnet Seller app WooCommerce

Garnet Marketplace has a new companion app: Garnet Seller for WooCommerce 🎉!

This WooCommerce extension allows vendors to link their WooCommerce/WordPress store to a marketplace easily, without having to create API keys.

The integration process is now similar to our Shopify integration.

The extension is free of charge to the vendors.

Learn more about WooCommerce integration.

3 Dec - WooCommerce integration supports order creation by default

Garnet's WordPress integration now creates orders for the vendor's shop.

Orders contain all the necessary data for the vendor to fulfill it. To avoid multiple emails sent to the customers, their email address is obfuscated.

::⚠️:: Vendors integrated with an API key need to ensure the vendor granted write access to the marketplace. :::

3 Dec - WooCommerce integration tracking

As WooCommerce does not provide out-of-the-box tracking data, the tracking cannot easily be forwarded to the marketplace.

If this is important for your business, let us know as we are working on it.

Learn more about WooCommerce integration.

2 Dec - Finance view commission rate fix

Following last week's commission calculation update, some marketplaces found errors in calculations that are now fixed.

2 Dec - Default shipping rates

Marketplaces can now define a default shipping rate in the Admin Panel. When a vendor does not specify a shipping label, the default rates are used.

29 Nov - Bigger logo in side menu

Garnet's side menu has more space to accommodate bigger logos. We increased the marketplace logo space by 30% for desktop users without losing any space.

The logo can be set using the appearance settings

28 Nov - Reset to default commission

When editing the vendor's commission, Garnet will show the distinction between a vendor-set commission and the Default commission.

26 Nov - Shopify integration forward tracking

Garnet's Shopify tracking integration takes care of more edge cases, especially when an order's line item has changed between the order creation and the order fulfillment.

25 Nov - Vendor application header

Garnet Marketplace's title on the registration form now displays Vendor application (instead of Create a new account) when the vendor approval step is enabled.

If the marketplace has a special wording, the header will adapt (like Seller application, or Contributor application...).

25 Nov - Messaging feature upgrades

As we are rolling out the new messaging feature, we are grateful for marketplaces testing it. Here are key updates:

  • Layout is more stable on mobile and when the product names are long,
  • Image and video uploads are more stable,
  • Messages work better on mobile
  • The UI/UX is less confusing when creating a new message.

25 Nov - Custom SEO and change currencies disabled by default

We analyzed vendors' usage of the Customize SEO and learned it was used only by 6% of the vendors.

As Garnet aims to have a simpler interface for vendors, we decided to disable this feature in marketplaces to reduce vendor options and simplify their experience.

Hence:

  • The SEO feature and the change currency feature are now disabled by default.
  • Marketplaces that never used the SEO feature will have it automatically disabled.
  • The SEO feature can be toggled from the admin panel.
  • The change currency feature can be toggled in Admin Panel > Features.

22 Nov - Hover to see the computation details

When hovering over the finance computation details, Garnet Marketplace now reliably displays all the steps necessary to understand the vendor payout and the commission.

finance overview image

21 Nov - Shipping in order view

The order view now properly shows the shipping amount even if Garnet's shipping is not set up for the marketplace.

When shipping is not set with Garnet, Garnet splits the shipping prorated by the item's value.

21 Nov - eCommerce product update and metafields

When a vendor with an eCommerce integration significantly changes a product (such as a title change), the new submission will not reset existing specifications set by the marketplace.

This upgrade enables marketplaces to reliably add additional business data to products uploaded via eCommerce integrations.

19 Nov - Commission tester

The commission tester has been improved to better display commission values when the fixed fee is below $1.

19 Nov - Order integration downtime support

Sometimes Shopify experiences short (few seconds) downtime, preventing orders from being created in the vendor portal. Garnet now waits for Shopify to recover and create the order again.

19 Nov - Renaming vendors

Renaming vendors has always been complex as it implies a lot of updates. The Garnet Team is working on automating the task, if you are interested in updating some of your vendors let us know.

18 Nov - Fix marketplace email not sent on time

Some email notifications were not properly sent to the marketplace because our email provider did not accept specific strings of characters. The issue has now been fixed.

Marketplaces using our email integrations were not affected.

18 Nov - Product missing image

When a vendor adds a product without an image, and the marketplace sets a minimum image constraint, then Garnet will automatically scroll up to show explicitly the error message.

15 Nov - Membership product limit

When using the tiered membership, the marketplace can now limit the vendor to a specific number of live products based on the Stripe plans.

15 Nov - Easier migration to Garnet - Vendor pages

The Garnet Team simplified the migration from specific marketplace solutions to Garnet Marketplace. Specifically, bringing vendor collection pages to Garnet is now easier and more automated. We added custom theme components to replicate the design of other marketplace solutions.

15 Nov - Theme components

Theme components are now displayed conditionally based on the section. This reduces confusion as we will add more and more components to help the marketplaces get started easily.

14 Nov - WooCommerce product integration

For the WooCommerce integration, we improved several edge cases:

  1. Product variations with one variant and invalid options are properly imported.
  2. Product image URLs that contain invalid characters are removed.
  3. Product variations without prices default to the product's standard price.
  4. Product descriptions containing shortcode (generated by WooCommerce plugins) are removed.
  5. Tracking scripts set in the product descriptions are removed.
  6. Product and variant URLs are added as external data in Garnet for reference.

More about the WooCommerce integration

14 Nov - Onboarding simplification

Garnet now auto-detects vendor collections and metafields from other marketplace apps to simplify the onboarding.

13 Nov - Disable all email notifications

Prevent all emails from being sent to both the marketplace and the vendors. This feature is used to let the marketplace run some tests without getting mailboxes spammed.

12 Nov - Fixed submission issues in the US

Scope: Shopify marketplaces based in the US, whose vendors manually uploaded products via Garnet between Sunday 10th November and Tuesday 12th November.

Due to a regional Shopify issue in the US, some submission images were lost. While the Garnet Team recovered most of the images, a few images are missing from specific products. We contacted the marketplaces impacted.

From now on, all images are duplicated on Garnet's servers to avoid any image loss.

11 Nov - Fix missing specifications

Before, if an admin updated a product and then rapidly clicked edit submission, the submission sometimes had empty specifications.

This issue has been fixed.

11 Nov - Image thumbnail

Image thumbnails now take the whole space available in the allocated area, and the quality of the image has been increased to be easier to view on smartphones.

8 Nov - Vendor export to CSV

Marketplaces can now export the vendor list as CSV from the Admin panel > Switch vendor. The export contains the vendor details, the users, the amount paid and unpaid. We will probably add more information if necessary.

Learn more about switch vendor.

6 Nov - Vendor can chat with a customer from an order

While the Messaging feature is still in testing with other marketplaces, we now extended the features to allow the vendor to start a chat with a customer (instead of the other way around) when an order is placed. The option is not available when the order is fulfilled.

6 Nov - Quick price/stock update

Vendors can now quickly change the price and stock of a product from the product listing view.

25 Oct - New website, new logo, new colors

Garnet website screenshot

Meet Garnet Marketplace's new website and new logo! We opted for bold colors and a simple design to reflect our product mindset.

We chose vibrant pink and yellow as light colors, and more professional charcoal and burgundy for darker colors. Of course, Garnet's main indigo color is still present with a slight variation in color.

We started to implement the colors and logo changes to Garnet Marketplace and Garnet Seller default colors. Marketplaces using the white-label colors are not impacted by the change.

Check out other marketplaces' use-cases and learn more about us.

24 Oct - Prestashop integration: orders synchronization

Prestashop module install page

Garnet Marketplace now creates orders to Prestashop. The order contains all information available in Garnet Marketplace and properly decrements the inventory's stock.

Reduce out-of-stock and simplify the vendor experience using Prestashop.

Learn more about our Prestashop integration

23 Oct - Less colors, more consistency

Less colors to set

Setting up colors was too complex: marketplaces had to design their own lighter/darker variation of multiple colors instead of focusing on their business.

We moved the complexity to the code:

  • we have reduced the number of custom colors to 4.
  • we take care of generating missing colors
  • we use the HSL color space to find the perfect lighting with your colors

18 Oct - Vendor holiday mode

Holiday mode screenshot application

Vendors can now go on holiday light-heartedly! Enable the holiday mode in the Admin panel and use our theme component to display messages to customers.

As usual, you can use our APIs to customize even further. This feature is disabled by default.

17 Oct - Vendor discounts

Enable your vendors to create automated discounts and discount codes directly from Garnet. The vendors can use the discounts to promote your marketplace on their social media.

This feature is disabled by default.

16 Oct - Disconnect e-Commerce integrations

Disconnect integration from Garnet

As our integration usage increases, we have improved the workflow to change integrations. Most notably, the marketplace can now disable an integration without bugging the vendor.

Also adding a new integration will automatically set older products to out of stock, preventing overselling when the vendor often switches integrations.

13 Oct - Filter products by source

Filter by source view

Was the product created manually, or does it come from an integration? Filter it out in Garnet's search.

11 Oct - Shopify order synchronization

Some markets require the marketplace to provide specific tax documents or certificates collected by Shopify. Garnet now synchronizes the necessary information from the marketplace's Shopify to the vendor's.

Learn more about order synchronization

10 Oct - Bug fix: Switch vendor

Sometimes when switching vendor, stale data was displayed to the admin. The issue has been resolved.

9 Oct - Manual collection synchronization

Marketplaces can now allow vendors to assign products to one or several manual collections using product specifications.

This feature is in beta, contact us for more information.

6 Oct - Password change

Change password visual

Vendors can now change their passwords when signed in Settings > Account.

4 Oct - Video upload for product and vendor page

demo upload video

Products in Garnet Marketplace also support video upload. Videos can be in .mov, .mp4 and .gif as per Shopify specifications.

3 Oct - Faster image upload in US and Europe

We improved Garnet Marketplace's infrastructure. The time to upload images for marketplaces in US or Europe has been reduced by 30%.

Image upload is also now more stable in low-latency areas.

2 Oct - Releases documentation page
