Shopify order synchronisation

Synchronisation delay: real-time

Which orders are synchronised?

When an order is placed on the marketplace, it is split per vendor. Vendors using the Shopify integration will receive an new order in real-time synchronised with the marketplace.

Only new orders are synchronised. The application Garnet Seller does not have access to the vendor past orders.

When the integration has Auto synchronise turned off, an order is only forwarded if it contains at least one product selected for import on the integration. An order made entirely of products that were never selected (for example products created by hand on the marketplace, or products showing a red cross in the integration's product list) stays on the marketplace.

Data imported

Once an order is place on the marketplace, it is transferred to the vendor. The order contains:

  • Products sold with quantity,
  • Products attributes (if any),
  • Customer name, company, delivery address, and billing address
  • Order attributes (if any),
  • Order notes,
  • Garnet Marketplace URL in the order's note. Convenient when they need to reference the order to the marketplace,
  • The tag Garnet Order, so the vendor can filter and export their orders related to Garnet. Convenient to double-check the vendor payouts,
  • The tag Garnet Order #1234, so the vendor can easily find an order sent by the marketplace,

WARNING

Note that the customer email address is obfusacted. It prevents vendor mailing automation from sending unwanted emails that will confuse the customer.

Instead we use a placeholder email like obfuscated+3f9a1c2e7b4d8a60@email.garnetmarketplace.com, the same for every order of a customer. Turn off Obfuscate customer emails to forward the real address.

Commission and discounts on the forwarded order

The order created on the vendor's Shopify store lists the products at the marketplace price, then carries the marketplace commission as an order discount named Commission (10%), or whatever the vendor's commission is. When discounts are transferred to the vendor, the customer's discounts are forwarded too, on the line items and on the order. The order total the vendor sees in Shopify is therefore the amount the marketplace owes them for that order.

Marketplaces that were live before September 2026 with three or more connected vendors keep the previous behaviour: the forwarded order shows the full marketplace price, without the commission line. Contact us to switch.

Tax on the forwarded order

The customer pays tax on the marketplace, so the order created on the vendor's Shopify store is marked tax exempt: the vendor's store does not add its own tax on top of the marketplace price, whatever its tax settings. Marketplaces keeping the previous behaviour described above are not affected.

Order cancellation

When an order is cancelled on the marketplace, the cancellation is automatically forwarded to the vendor's Shopify store in real-time. This ensures that vendors are immediately informed and their order management stays in sync with the marketplace.

Stock decrement

When an order is created on the vendor store, the product stock will be decremented in real-time.

If the marketplace sells a product not synchronised with the marketplace (i.e. a product created outside of Garnet), an order will be created on the vendor store but the stock will not be decremented.
